Overview

The US Health Data Analytics Engine is a website application that provides users with access to health data trends across industries, organization sizes, and regions. The platform allows users to review reports, search across all survey data, answer the Weekly Knowledge Share, and create custom benchmark reports for peer-level comparison. The application is available in two plans: Standard Data Access and Data PLUS Benchmark Access.

Mission

To provide a comprehensive US health data analytics engine that empowers healthcare professionals to make informed decisions based on powerful data insights.

Problem

Our research has shown that many organizations struggle to make informed policy decisions due to a lack of comprehensive and accessible health data. Existing surveys are often fragmented and difficult to navigate, making it challenging to identify relevant insights and compare data across different organizations and industries. Additionally, users have expressed frustration with the time-consuming and cumbersome process of creating custom benchmark reports.

Goal

Our goal is to design a website application that provides two plans: Standard data access and Data PLUS benchmark access. The former provides insight into Mercer's extensive US Health survey reports year-round, while the latter enables users to create custom benchmark reports for peer-level comparison. Additionally, users can search across all survey data, answer the Weekly Knowledge Share, and dig into the data on health trends by exploring data filters and analyzing key data cuts. The ultimate goal is to empower healthcare professionals to make informed policy decisions based on powerful data insights.

Chapter 02

Scenarios

The team conducted user interviews to gather feedback and insights on how users interact with the platform.

Based on the created personas, it is evident that there are different types of users that will use the US Health Data Analytics Engine for various purposes. Therefore, it is crucial to create a user-centric design that caters to the needs of all the personas. By focusing on the user stories and designing the app to address their specific needs, the US Health Data Analytics Engine can provide a better user experience and meet the users' expectations. Creating personas with quotes can help the design team understand the user's perspective, their goals, and the challenges they face, leading to a more effective and successful design.

I'm always looking for ways to improve our company's benefits package. Being able to see national survey data on health benefits and costs would be incredibly valuable to me.

Sarah Job, HR Manager

I need to know how our benefits package compares to others in our industry, and being able to create custom benchmarking reports would save me a lot of time and effort.

John Job, CFO

Sometimes it can be hard to find the specific data I need in the surveys, so being able to search across all survey data would be a huge help in finding the answers I need.

Emily, Benefits Specialist

I spend a lot of time looking for specific data points, so having an easy way to find out what data is available would be a huge time-saver for me.

Michael, Data Analyst

I like the idea of the Weekly Knowledge Share because it would give me a chance to ask questions that aren't covered in the surveys, and seeing the results over time would be interesting and informative.

David, HR Generalist

I want to make sure our organization is doing everything it can to support our employees' health and wellness. The HERO Scorecard would be a great tool to help us identify areas for improvement.

Amy, CEO

Chapter 03

Design Challenge

The design challenge for the US Health Data Analytics Engine is to create a user-friendly website application that provides access to health data trends across industries, organization sizes, and regions. The goal is to create an intuitive interface that allows users to easily review reports, search across all survey data, answer the Weekly Knowledge Share, and create custom benchmark reports for peer-level comparison. The application should also provide a clear and concise way for users to understand the available data and how to access it without having to search for it.

Design an intuitive and user-friendly website application that provides access to a wealth of health data that can be customized and personalized to meet the needs of users across industries, organization sizes, and regions. The design should incorporate easy navigation, clear labeling of features, and seamless integration of new data sets while also enabling users to easily access historical data sets for trend analysis.

Chapter 04

Solution

The US Health Data Analytics Engine offers two plans: Standard data access and Data PLUS benchmark access. The Standard plan provides access to year-round reports and surveys on health trends, while the Data PLUS plan offers custom benchmark reports and data analysis. Both plans are designed to help organizations make informed decisions based on comprehensive health data.

The US Health Data Analytics Engine offers two plans: Standard data access and Data PLUS benchmark access. The Standard data access plan provides users with insight into Mercer's extensive US Health survey reports year-round, access to articles and data, and more than 20 in-depth survey reports and analyses. The plan includes access to the National Survey of Employer-Sponsored Health Plans Report and survey reports on health trends such as the H&B Strategies Survey, 3 Big Issues for Health, Inside Employees Minds study, and many more.

The Data PLUS benchmark access plan provides users with access to all survey reports, as well as the ability to dig into the data by exploring data filters and analyzing key data cuts, and creating custom benchmark reports. The plan allows users to compare their organization by benchmarking against industry, size, location, and specific organizations (anonymized and aggregated). The plan includes up to 3 reports annually.

National Survey Data

One of the key features of the application is the National Survey of Employer-Sponsored Health Plans Report, which is the largest employer health plan survey in its class. Users can easily access the survey results in PDF or table format, as well as compare their organization against industry benchmarks.

Easy-to-Use Dashboard

Upon logging in, users will be taken to a dashboard where they can quickly access the most commonly sought-after reports and surveys. This dashboard will also highlight any new and trending data relevant to the user's organization.

Custom Benchmarking Reports

Users can create custom benchmarking reports that allow them to compare their organization against others based on industry, size, location, and specific organizations (anonymized and aggregated). Up to 3 reports are included annually.

Advanced Search Capabilities

Users can find answers to their questions by searching across all survey data, without having to figure out which survey to look in. The search feature is highly intuitive and enables users to easily find what they are looking for.

Weekly Knowledge Share

Users can ask questions that are not currently available in the data set and have other users answer them. The platform will track these questions and provide users with instant results after answering. This feature will be called the "Weekly Knowledge Share" and will allow users to ask questions and receive answers from other users in the community.

Data Availability

Users can easily see what data is available without having to search for it. This feature will provide users with an overview of all the available data on the platform.

HERO Scorecard

The platform will provide a HERO Scorecard that users can fill out to receive their score and see an analysis of what their organization needs to work on. The platform will direct users to connect with a consultant to address any issues identified.

Chapter 05

Design Decision

The key design decisions for the US Health Data Analytics Engine include a clear navigation menu, personalized dashboard view, interactive data visualization, robust search functionality, historical data access, user feedback and engagement, and mobile responsiveness.
